We will spend some time in this class working on various school skills. These skills will help you to be better organized and more prepared in your classes at school. We will work on finding study/school skills that work well for you based on your strengths and interests.
Before we work on our study skills though, we need to get organized. Keeping your locker, binder, notes, etc. organized at school will benefit you in a ton of different ways! We will start by organizing our binders, making sure that everyone has their binder divided into sections using coloured dividers.
Everyone will also receive a weekly planner that should be filled in with any homework, assignments, upcoming tests, clubs, practices, appointments etc.
Part of your mark in this class will be based off of weekly binder/planner check-ins, so make sure you are keeping organized!
Cornell Notes
The first study skill we are going to be working on together is Cornell Notes. Cornell notes are an effective way to keep your notes more organized. Cornell notes improve retention of information, and are much more useful in preparing for tests. We will be practicing taking Cornell notes as a class, and eventually, you will start taking your own. |

Study Skills Assignment
For this assignment, you are going to use what you have learned about your multiple intelligences to incorporate some new study skills into your other courses.
What you will do:
You will select 2 study techniques/skills from the list I will provide you, using your top intelligences as a guide. You will then need to use both of these techniques in your other academic classes. You will need to show me proof of how you used this technique, and then complete a reflection where you analyze what worked well, and what you liked/didn’t like about the technique.
